Club 19 Season 2 Podcast Cover

Two years ago, I already did a podcast cover illustration for season 1 of the German Stephen King podcast Club 19. Now, they're in the middle of season 2 and I got to do a new one.

Here's the square version:

There's more to it, though! The Club 19 guys made a physical notebook as a reward for their Patreon supporters, for which I drew matching front (left) and back (right) covers. Have a look:

"Die Toten" Halloween Reading in Berlin

If you're in Berlin this Thursday night (on Halloween!), you can come and see (and hear) Katja Klengel and me read from my new book "Die Toten: Isar Palace" at Modern Graphics Kastanienallee.

2020, Fuck Yeah! Calendar

It's become a beloved yearly tradition for me to draw an illustration for Schlogger's "Fuck Yeah!" calendar.

This time, I used some background characters I had recently designed for a kids' comic project, and painted them in a style I hadn't really tried before. Here's the result:

You can order the calendar now at Kwimbi (maybe together with my Die Toten comic and/or the new JAZAM?): ORDER HERE

The calendar contains lots of wonderful illustrations from 60+ talented German cartoonists & illustrators. Here's the cover by Susann Hoffmann:

Die Toten: Isar Palace

Some of you may have already gotten one of the small run of advance copies I had with me at Comicfestival München & Comic Con Germany in June, but for everybody else, my new book "Die Toten: Isar Palace" is officially coming out this week! After working on this for almost five years, I'm so happy people are finally getting a chance to read it.

I already got my author's copies:

The book is a new installment in the award-winning German zombie comic series "Die Toten". Unlike previous books in the series, mine contains just one standalone story and doesn't require you to know any of the others.

For more information, check out the interview I gave for Zwerchfell Verlag's website. Here are some sample pages:

You can get the book starting tomorrow for just 12€ at any German comic shop or book store (please ask them to order it for you if they don't have it), or at KWIMBI, Hummelcomic, and Amazon.de. I'd much rather you support your local comic shop or independent online retailers like Kwimbi than the big A, though.

If you want a signed copy, you can get that directly from me. Just send me an e-mail!

VIDEODROME Poster

For an upcoming special screening presented by my publisher Zwerchfell, I was asked to illustrate a poster for one of my favorite movies of all time, David Cronenberg's VIDEODROME.

I made two versions of the poster - one for the event at Harmonie & Cinema in Frankfurt on October 09, 2019, and a "neutral" version just for me.

You can buy a print of the first version at the event. The proceeds go to Sea-Watch!

Here's just the ink drawing:

Paluten Freedom: Der Golemkönig

Earlier this year, I got to work on a pretty cool comic based on the Minecraft characters by popular German YouTuber Paluten. The story is by Haiko Hörnig, line art by Irina Zinner, and colors by Eve Jay (flats) and myself (finishes). It was a lot of fun and the book turned out nicely and is already a best-seller! You can order it here.

Check it out if a funny all-ages fantasy adventure sounds like something you'd enjoy!

Some pages (which I did color):

I already signed a few books for some folks:

The new JAZAM!

For 13 years now, my co-editors and I have been putting out the German indie comics anthology JAZAM!, but this year we thought we'd try something different: rather than assembling stories from dozens of different artists, we picked just one.

David Füleki has continuously contributed awesome short comics to JAZAM! for many years now, and we thought it would be great if people could read all of them in one place. He also liked this idea, and so he reworked and expanded them, drew new introduction comics for most of them, and added a few fun stories that were previously unpublished or published in other anthologies.

I myself got to color one of my favorite comics of his, "Beppo Biber".

Here's the cool cover for "The Best (and Worst) of David Füleki":

And a page from "Beppo Biber" with my colors:

Trek & Gold season 2

It's already been a few weeks since we finished the second season of our podcast "Trek & Gold", but I just realized that I never posted anything about it on this blog.

Just like during the first season, Eve Jay and I did in-depth podcast recaps for every episode of the second season of Star Trek: Discovery. You can check those out on SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, or most other places where you can subscribe to podcasts. For every one of those podcast episodes, I also drew a cover illustration. Here are some of my favorites:

#artvsartist2019

I'm very busy with work right now, so I haven't had much time to work on my own art. I still wanted to post something on the blog, so here's my new #artvsartist for 2019 that I did a little while ago:

Radio Nukular #91

I was asked to do a new Radio Nukular cover for their podcast about the movies of Steven Spielberg:

Here's a look at my rough sketch (I admit I traced some elements like the truck from photos - I'm no good at drawing cars):

Portrait

Happy new year, everybody!

Just before the end of last year, I drew this pic of my girlfriend and me as a christmas parents for some relatives:

Here's the scribble and ink versions:
