The new JAZAM!

For 13 years now, my co-editors and I have been putting out the German indie comics anthology JAZAM!, but this year we thought we'd try something different: rather than assembling stories from dozens of different artists, we picked just one.

David Füleki has continuously contributed awesome short comics to JAZAM! for many years now, and we thought it would be great if people could read all of them in one place. He also liked this idea, and so he reworked and expanded them, drew new introduction comics for most of them, and added a few fun stories that were previously unpublished or published in other anthologies.

I myself got to color one of my favorite comics of his, "Beppo Biber".

Here's the cool cover for "The Best (and Worst) of David Füleki":

And a page from "Beppo Biber" with my colors:

Very soon, my comic for German zombie comic series Die Toten is going to come out!

Have a look at my cover:

Radio Nukular #100

I got to do the cover for Radio Nukular's 100th podcast episode about time travel:

And here's just the line art:

Trek & Gold season 2

It's already been a few weeks since we finished the second season of our podcast "Trek & Gold", but I just realized that I never posted anything about it on this blog.

Just like during the first season, Eve Jay and I did in-depth podcast recaps for every episode of the second season of Star Trek: Discovery. You can check those out on SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, or most other places where you can subscribe to podcasts. For every one of those podcast episodes, I also drew a cover illustration. Here are some of my favorites:

Herzlichtspieler

An illustrated logo I recently made for an interesting theater crowdfunding project:

#artvsartist2019

I'm very busy with work right now, so I haven't had much time to work on my own art. I still wanted to post something on the blog, so here's my new #artvsartist for 2019 that I did a little while ago:

Radio Nukular #91

I was asked to do a new Radio Nukular cover for their podcast about the movies of Steven Spielberg:

Here's a look at my rough sketch (I admit I traced some elements like the truck from photos - I'm no good at drawing cars):

Portrait

Happy new year, everybody!

Just before the end of last year, I drew this pic of my girlfriend and me as a christmas parents for some relatives:

Here's the scribble and ink versions:

And here's just me, which I'm using as my new profile pic:

Inktober 2018 - Star Trek portraits - now for sale!

Once again this year, I participated in Inktober, a challenge to draw one ink drawing on every day of October and post them online. This was my fourth time participating, and my third time with a theme. This year's theme for me was Star Trek. These are the 31 character portraits I drew:

See the full gallery on Facebook!

For the first time, you're now able to BUY these drawings! Every one is an original marker drawing on thick 14,8x21cm (DIN A5) paper, and they cost 50€ each (incl. shipping to Germany). 2019, Fuck Yeah! Calendar Illustration

Once again, I was asked to participate in Schlogger's new "Fuck Yeah!" calendar, which every year collects 52 illustrations from many of Germany's most interesting young cartoonists and illustrators.

For my week in mid-December I chose to do something with the two main characters from my upcoming comic for German zombie comics anthology "Die Toten". Here it is:

And here's just the line art:

Check out the cool cover art by Illustrie:

I have a couple of these calendars to sell to you. Send me an e-mail or a message on FB/Insta/Twitter if you want a signed calendar for just 20€ (shipping is free)!

Radio Nukular #84

I made another cover illustration for the popular German nostalgia podcast Radio Nukular. This episode is all about the hip-hop music career of one of their members, Max aka. Rockstah.

Rockstah likes to dress up as The Penguin from Batman, which explains the outfit, and the overall layout is inspired by the album cover for Bob Seger's "Beautiful Loser".

Some character designs

A year or so ago, I drew some character designs for a learning game project that didn't end up happening. Here they are:

Splash!

Here's "Platsch!" ("Splash!"), my 2-page comic from the most recent issue of German indie comics anthology JAZAM!

It's also up on Tapas.

Buy the whole book (theme: "Schreckgeschichten"/"scary stories") now at our shop, at Kwimbi or Amazon.de!

On Fire poster

I illustrated this poster/flyer for my dad's new one man show "On Fire" - premiering this weekend in Munich:

Here's an earlier draft:
