FRITZ!Box Character Designs

Before I drew the 5 episodes of my christmas comics for German wi-fi equipment manufacturer AVM, I had to design the main characters.

AVM had already done a live-action ad with them, but I got to determine how they looked as comic characters. First, we had to find the right style, so I drew three different versions of main hero Fritz Box:

They liked version #2 best, and after some minor adjustments, I drew my versions of Power-Liene and Repeater-Pieter:

I hope I get to draw some more comic adventures with this trio in 2021!

FRITZ!Box Advent Calendar

I got to draw a fun series of superhero comic strips for Berlin-based wi-fi equipment manufacturer AVM. There’s going to be one episode for every week of December and an extra one for Christmas - here’s the first one

The comics are part of their advent calendar, which comes with cool daily prizes! For this, I drew an illustration of the Fritz!Box heroes (aka 'The AVMgers') in holiday garb:

Trek & Gold Continues

I can't show you the other projects I'm working on right now, but what I can show you are some of the new podcast covers I've been drawing for Eve Jay's & my Star Trek podcast Trek & Gold.

Right now, we're discussing Star Trek Discovery season 3, for which I've drawn these:

Before that, I did some more Lower Decks covers like this one:

And for our Patreon, I drew a couple of Lower Decks-style portraits of our patrons:

Trek & Gold: Lower Decks

Eve Jay and I are once again podcasting about Star Trek - this time it's about the brand new animated comedy show "Star Trek: Lower Decks", which I'm enjoying a lot. In our first new podcast, we talk about the first two episodes: Trek & Gold 59

For this, I also drew a new cover with the two of us as Lower Decks characters:

If you, too, want to become a Lower Decks character, you can get your own LD portrait on our Patreon.

2021, Fuck Yeah!

Once again, I was asked to join Schlogger's annual "Fuck Yeah" calendar, which contains weekly illustrations by some of Germany's coolest cartoonists and illustrators (and also me).

For this year's edition I collaborated with David Füleki, whose work I've been a fan of for a long time. Roughly speaking, he drew the right half of the picture, I the left half. We both worked on the colors and the original idea came from my gf Katja Klengel.

Because the calendar is supposed to be family-friendly, we made an alternate version without the umbilical cord for it. I prefer the version with the cord, though.

Comicgate.de also has a brief interview with me about my illustration for last year's calendar and current projects.

PSYCHO Poster

For an upcoming special screening presented by my publisher Zwerchfell, I got to illustrate this poster for Alfred Hitchcock's horror classic "Psycho" (which turns 60 this year):

"Clean" version:

You can buy a print of the first version at the event on August 26 at Harmonie Kinos Frankfurt. The proceeds go to Sea-Watch!

Die Toten @ CSE digital

The German comics community was very sad when our biggest comics festival, Comic-Salon Erlangen, had to be cancelled this year because of Covid-19. Luckily, the good folks at Kulturamt Erlangen came up with a digital alternative and launched a digital platform called #CSEdigital. On it, there will be a lot of cool content from many of my fellow comics creators and me.

Together with Comic Solidarity and podcast Der Tele-Stammtisch, we made the following video, which contains a short interview and a 15-minute video version of my comic Die Toten: Isar Palace (in German). The character voices are Katja Klengel & me.

If you want to know the rest of the story, you can order the comic at your local comic shop or book store or online at Kwimbi and Amazon.de.

Art vs. Artist 2020

The #artvsartist meme has become an annual tradition at this point. Here's my newest version:
