As I may have mentioned before, I'm not only a cartoonist and illustrator, but also a singer/keyboarder/songwriter in a sort-of amateurish alternative-rock band called Affection Play. Because of some personell changes and because we had a hard time finding an affordable studio for recording new material, we haven't really put out a lot of music in the last few years, neither live nor recorded. Hopefully, that's going to change now. To start things off, we just uploaded our first official single "Intelligent People Are Rarely Happy", which you can listen to right here:
It's a "pre-release" version and not a final mix, which is why we're not offering a download at this time. Once our entire album/EP/whatever is finished in a couple of weeks/months, a download option of some kind will become available. In the meantime, you can listen to this one online. Let me know what you think!
The main reason why we're putting this song out right now is that we have a live gig in two weeks (nov. 30). It's an aids benefit concert with some other cool bands such as Munich indie sensation Pardon Ms. Arden. I'd love for you to stop by if you're in or around Munich, Germany! Get more info at our facebook event.

24h comic "Infiltrated" (English version)
As I promised last weekend, I spent the last week translating my recent 24h comic into English. Click on the page below to start reading my creepy little body-horror story:
The German version continues to be available at MyComics.de
Also, check out my last post for links to some of the other 24h comics by my pals from the Weimar event.

24h Comic "Infiltriert" (German version)
I've finally completed the comic I drew at the 24h Comic Day in Weimar last weekend. While I wrote and drew all 24 pages in the 24h timespan, I've added digital grey-shading in the last couple of days. I think it turned out pretty okay, even though the sleep deprivation and exhaustion probably shows in some places. (and in the weird-ass story)
Click on the 1st page to go to MyComics.de and read the entire 24-page comic:
So far, the comic is only available in German. I'll probably publish an English translation in a week or so.
Some other 24h comics from the Weimar event:
Doppeltim
Flausen
Beetlebum
Pete
Jeff Chi
Kathi Netolitzky
Dirk Wachsmuth
Steffen
(I'll add more as they show up online)

24h Comic Day 2012
These past two days, I was in Weimar, participating in Schwarzer Turm's 24h Comic Day event. In case you don't know, the 24h Comic Day (as invented by Scott McCloud) is a day on which cartoonists all over the world spend 24 consecutive hours trying to draw at least 24 comic pages. It's a pretty tough challenge, but I finally decided to give it a try this year and joined Beetlebum, Doppeltim, Jeff Chi, Pete, Lapinot, Kathi, Yinfinity, Flausen-Ulf, and many others in Weimar to do this. And wouldn't you know it, I (and a few others) actually succeeded! I managed to write and draw a complete 24-page comic and even had some time to spare at the end. I'm not sure if the comic is actually any good (it's pretty weird and yucky), but it feels good to have made it, anyway.
It's going to take me a few days to scan and clean up all the pages, but until then, you can have a look at the complete comic as it hung on the wall shortly after I'd finished it:

influence map
A couple of years ago, there was this meme going around DeviantArt in which you were supposed to make a "map" of the artists and other things that shaped and informed your art style. I actually wanted to make one of these way back then, but never got around to it. Now that the meme has cropped back up at the Comicforum.de, I finally decided to make one. Here it is:
