24HCD April 2016

Some cartoonist friends and I got together this weekend to do one of our two annual 24-hour comic marathons. Studio Fizbin graciously let us use their basement at Saftladen Berlin.

During the 24-hour period, I continued to work on a comic that I'd started at our last event in October 2015. I only got 12 pages done this time (a bit of a disappointment), but in total, I'm at 31 pages now! I'm still gonna need 20-ish more to finish the story, though.

Order Doodle

The Monster Doodle books are here and can be ordered at Kwimbi Webcomic Shop! I'm also going to have them at the JAZAM! table at ComicInvasionBerlin this weekend.

If you're making a Kwimbi order anyway, why not pre-order the new JAZAM!, too?

JAZAM! Vol. 11

The new volume of German indie comics anthology JAZAM!, of which I am an editor, is almost here! The topic this time is "Adventure" and the whole book is designed to be suitable for all ages. I myself drew a 9-page comic called "Fauler Zauber" for it. Here's the first page:

The book contains 320 pages of full-color comics by 51 different artists. I think it's our best volume yet and a lot of fun! There's a 16-page preview on MyComics.de.

Here's the wonderful cover by Natalie Dombois:

You can now pre-order the book at our online shop and you'll be able to buy signed copies at all of my future festival and con appearances, most importantly at Comicsalon Erlangen in late May.

Reading Panels: "Als ich so alt war"

For the past year or so, I've participated in a number of comic readings in Katja Klengel's "Reading Panels" series. Some of them have been readings of my own comic, Hipsters, others were readings of other artists' comics, which I just joined as a voice actor.

One of the most recent ones was a reading of Katja's great graphic novel "Als ich so alt war" in Dresden last December. This one was special because it contained several songs (which Katja and I performed live) and some live kalimba music. It was also the first one that was filmed in its entirety. See the first part here:

And see the other nine parts RIGHT HERE.

The next reading will be a compilation of several short comics by Katja, Tim Gaedke, Matthias Lehmann, and me at the Schauburg in Dresden on May 22, 2016.

ComicInvasionBerlin Podcast

Two weeks ago, I was a guest on the official podcast of ComicInvasionBerlin, one of my favorite smaller comic festivals in Germany. I talked to Lara and Carlos about JAZAM!, Hipsters, my other comics, and the festival. It was pretty fun! LISTEN HERE. You can also find it on iTunes.

JAZAM! is once again going to have a table at this year's ComicInvasionBerlin on April 16/17, where you'll be able to meet me most of the time.
